Setting up shared folders in Virtualbox : Ubuntu host , Win-XP guestFrom $1Table of contentsNo headersTo set up sharing between your ubuntu host and WinXP guest: Click on the Devices in the Virtualbox Window menu inside which your Windows XP session is running Click on Shared Folders In the Machine Folders section , CLick on the Green box with a + icon on the frame to "add a mchine folder" . After that click on Other and navigate to the folder on your host OS ( Ubuntu) that you want to share with Windows_XP guest in the directory selector that pops up. Select the directpry you want to share. Click make permanent. Click oK Now the shared folder should be in the Shared folder list. Now in windows XP . Click on the "My computer" . Click on "Add a Network Place" in the network tasks sidebar. In the add a network place wizard. Choose next and lclick on "Choose another network location , Specify the address of a Wenb site , network location or FTP site". Click next. In the box , click on Browse. Under My Network places . You should see the Virtual BOx shared folders and a listing \\BOXSVR\yourfolder-name Select the folder name that you want to share and then CLick ok and next . Now windows XP prompts you for a share name. DO not pick the default share name and give it a new share name. Then click net and the sharename . And then click Finish in the wizard. The new shared folder should show up with fullread and write capability in the "My network places" section of windows XP
